Intervista a Bill Frisell

Sul sito dell'Observer Reporter c'è una bel articolo con intervista al chitarrista Bill Frisell:
During a phone conversation early in February, Bill Frisell was momentarily confused about what he would be doing in Pittsburgh Tuesday and who he'd be playing with.
It wasn't forgetfulness on Frisell's part, just the result of a jam-packed schedule that has the jazz guitarist working with different musicians on different projects, and bringing different sets of players with him on the road.
"I have an incredibly luxurious situation," Frisell explained from a hotel room in Minneapolis. "I'm in this amazing thing where I can mix different people and put different combinations together, and it keeps being fresh."
Frisell, who will hit 59 March 18, cut his teeth on the Beatles, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix while growing up in Denver, and got his first break nearly 30 years ago when he filled in for fellow jazz guitarist Pat Metheny at a recording session. In the years since, he's released 30 albums and has collaborated with the likes of Elvis Costello, Elvin Jones and Vernon Reid of the band Living Colour. The All Music Guide calls him "one of the most singular musicians of his generation."
When Frisell stops at the Rex Theatre on the South Side, he'll be fronting the Bill Frisell Trio. Once the tour wraps up, they'll be going into the studio and recording an album based, in part, on material they've worked up on the road.
"It's a pretty new group," he noted. "We've been playing together for a couple of years as a trio. But there will probably be some stuff the audience hasn't heard yet."
